The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has confirmed the decision to launch the T20 league. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working out crucial details. The GCA is yet to determine a suitable window for the tournament, as well as finalize the number of participating teams.
The proliferation of domestic T20 leagues across India has created valuable opportunities for aspiring cricketers. These leagues serve as scouting grounds for IPL franchises, with leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra providing platforms for local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues take place in June and July, after the IPL season concludes in May.
