Vijay to Lead TVK into 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections as Chief Ministerial Candidate

Vijay, the actor who has transitioned into politics, has been officially declared as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. This significant decision was reached through a special resolution during the party’s State Executive Committee meeting held at the TVK headquarters in Chennai.

According to NDTV, the meeting, led by Vijay himself, also initiated plans for a large-scale state conference scheduled for the next month.

Meanwhile, Vijay is preparing for the release of his highly anticipated film, 'Jana Nayagan,' directed by H. Vinoth. The recently released teaser for 'Jana Nayagan' has garnered positive feedback from audiences.

She stated, "I just asked him whether 'Jana Nayagan' would truly be his last outing. Vijay Sir responded by saying that it all depends on how elections go. He also said that we’ll see what happens.”

‘Jana Nayagan’ boasts a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Mamitha Baiju. Conversely, Vijay's previous film, the action-oriented 'GOAT,' did not resonate with audiences as expected.
