Vijay Sethupathi has publicly responded to the recent controversy involving his son, Surya Vijay Sethupathi, and his debut film, 'Phoenix'.
At the film's premiere, Vijay Sethupathi expressed his gratitude to the film's team and the audience, expressing optimism that the film would resonate with viewers.
Reports surfaced alleging that individuals were pressured to remove online videos related to Surya. When questioned by reporters, Vijay Sethupathi stated, "If something like that happened, it might have been done unknowingly or by someone else. I sincerely apologize if anyone was hurt or misunderstood the intention."
Adding significant momentum to 'Phoenix' prior to its release was the support of superstar Thalapathy Vijay.
The actor viewed the film privately and shared his feedback with the team. Director Anal Arasu, also a renowned stunt choreographer, posted a photo with Vijay and Surya on social media, stating, "Bloody sweet! That’s the vibe after Thalapathy Vijay sir watched Phoenix and shared his MERSAL MAXX words! The Phoenix is flying on FIRE now!”
Although Vijay did not release a public review, his encouragement deeply touched Surya Vijay Sethupathi. The young actor reshared the post, writing, “Thank you, Vijay sir. The last hug, the kind words, the warmth — it meant everything. I’ve always looked up to you, and to feel your support on this journey is something I’ll never forget.”
'Phoenix', directed by Anal Arasu, features Surya Vijay Sethupathi, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Devadarshini, and Sampath. Velraj is the cinematographer, Sam C.S. composed the music, and Praveen K.L. served as the editor. The film is currently in theaters and receiving positive reviews.
